So why Blogs?

I'm still kind of wondering this myself. I don't know what made me decide to do this. All the writing I'm doing in English right now at the college made me want to write more i guess.
So whats really the point of a Blog. It seems kind of self-absorbed to write blogs about yourself for the purpose of other people reading about your boring life. Though the good writers make reading a blog kind of fun, colorful writing and good descriptions make for an entertaining blog for me. So the big question: Is anyone gonna read this? Most likely not, with the exception of my friends and family, haha. Anyway I'm doing this for myself and only me, so i can rant and rave when i need to, or put things down that are just on my mind.
On the other hand I do hope someone reads the Dewey and Ginger blog i went ahead and made, because they are crazy, that and some of the pictures are funny. Anyway its morning time and the other half is asleep so I'm just rambling on and on here. haha Need a good subject, like my story yesterday. yes this really concerns me, I'm scared for the future of my family and my children's family if we overpopulate the earth. Ehhhh but what is little old me gonna do about it, something if i could, but i don't know where to begin.
Enough about the depressing stuff. There is one thing i should be doing though, and that's my Compare/contrast paper that's due Monday. I'm pretty sure my topic is gonna be my home town, Culpeper, Virgina compared with Lee's home town Milan, Michigan. There very alike actually, small towns where everyone knows each other and such. Yet so different in there stores, set up, that and i think most of the people up there are nicer than the ones here in Culpeper. lol
Anyway that's enough on my boring class paper. I'm actually running out of things to talk about this morning so I guess ima sign off of here for now, :-)
